Terms of Service

Style My City is a browser-based design tool for generating printable map and star-chart wall art from real geographic and astronomical data. No account is required. All rendering happens in your browser, and we do not store your designs on our servers.

You may use exports from Style My City for personal, non-commercial purposes only. Commercial use, including selling, licensing, or otherwise distributing exports for profit, is not permitted. You may not resell, redistribute, or sublicense the Style My City software itself, nor represent exports as your own original cartographic data.

All exported artwork is derived from third-party data sources that require attribution. You must include the following credits:

• Map exports: “© MapTiler” and “© OpenStreetMap contributors”
• Star map exports: “Star data from the Yale Bright Star Catalogue”

The ZIP download includes a README with the required attribution text. If you print a poster, the attribution must appear on the reverse of the print or on an accompanying insert.

Map exports covering Japan are currently unavailable due to data licensing constraints imposed by our map data provider. This is a known limitation and does not affect exports of any other region.

Style My City relies on the following third-party services:

• MapTiler — map tile rendering, subject to MapTiler ToS
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — geocoding, licensed under ODbL
• Overpass API — river and waterway data (OpenStreetMap)
• Anthropic — AI natural language feature, subject to Anthropic usage policies

Your use of these services through Style My City is also governed by their respective terms.

We collect a small amount of data to run the service:

• AI prompt text. Queries you submit to the “Ask AI” feature are sent to Anthropic for processing and may be kept for a short period to help us detect abuse and improve the feature.
• Server analytics. Standard request data (IP address, browser user agent, referrer, pages visited, session duration), collected by our hosting provider, Vercel.

We do not collect your name, email address, or payment information. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.

Style My City is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data (geographic, topographic, or astronomical) is accurate, current, or complete. The tool is intended for creative and decorative purposes only, and must not be used for navigation, emergency planning, or any scientific or safety-critical purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of Style My City will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising out of or related to your use of the service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, whether caused by inaccuracies in the data, service downtime, export failures, or any decisions you make based on the output of the tool. You use Style My City at your own risk.

You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from any claim arising out of your use of the service, including your failure to comply with the attribution obligations in Section 3 or the permitted-use restrictions in Section 2.

We may update these Terms occasionally. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent change.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada.
